DSPTC, Down syndrome Fort Worth, Texas, Tarrant County, GrapevineOur Mission
The Down Syndrome Partnership of Tarrant County's purpose is to support people with Down syndrome, their families, and caregivers in achieving the universally desired goals of self-fulfillment, pride in one's achievements, inclusion in the community and reaching one's full potential, through social and educational activities. Anyone in Fort Worth, HEB, Grapevine, Southlake, Colleyville and throughout North Texas with an interest in Down syndrome is invited to join.

About Down Syndrome
arrow According to the CDC, one in
every 733 babies is born with the extra chromosome which causes Down syndrome.

arrow Down syndrome is a common genetic variation that usually causes delay in physical, intellectual and language development.

arrow The exact causes of Down syndrome are not known, nor are ways to prevent the chromosomal rearrangement.

arrow There is wide variation in mental abilities and physical development in individuals with Down syndrome.

arrow Each individual with Down
syndrome has his/her own unique personality, capabilities and talents and can benefit from loving homes, early intervention, inclusive education, social interaction, appropriate medical care and positive public attitudes.

DSPTC Board Members Named to State and National Boards
DSPTC is now represented by two Board Members at State and National levels. Marilyn Tolbert was elected to a three-year term of the National Down Syndrome Congress' Board of Directors. Andrew Crim was appointed by Gov. Rick Perry to the Texas Council on Developmental Disabilities.
